How To Do

Call Time:

• 8am

Call Location:

• USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center
• Meet under the giant canopy at the end of the Flushing Meadows Pedestrian Boardwalk that leads to the US Open entrance from the Mets-Willets Point Subway station (see photo)
• There’s a coffee kiosk near the call location
• Drumline/sousas should come to the giant canopy first. You’ll be led to Parking Lot G where the van will be parked.

Schedule:

• 8am: Meet under the canopy and pick up your wristband
• Drumline and sousas will be led to Parking G to pick up instruments and harnesses
• 8:30: Group photo in front of Arthur Ashe Stadium
• 9:15: Warm up and tune
• 10am: Performance
• 10:25: Band owned instruments are taken back to Parking G. Those with personal instruments can check them at bag check.
• Enjoy a day of tennis!

Subway/Train

• Take the 7 train or LIRR to Mets-Willets Point
• Follow signs to the USTA Billie Jean King Tennis Center. The gate leading from the train to the boardwalk may not be open that early, so you may need to exit the station and enter the boardwalk from the street. 
• Be sure to check the MTA website for service changes and the MTA Live Map before you leave home!

Driving and Parking

• We suggest you take transit, but if you must drive, be prepared for expensive and not-very-close parking

More About the Music:

• Put your music into a flip-folder (and don’t forget to bring a lyre)

• This is a “Stand-and-Play” performance under the canopy for the crowds heading to the entrance from the boardwalk
• We will play for approximately 25 minutes beginning at 10am
• This performance is rain or shine.
• Once our performance ends, we will reload ONLY band-owned instruments and equipment
• Those with personal instruments must check them at bag check (a few yards away from our call location)
• You are welcome to enjoy the day at the US Open! The wristband will give you access to the grounds all day and to all the courts except for Arthur Ashe Stadium

• ALL bags are subject to search, and must not be larger than 12” W x 12”H x 16” L (size exception for ADA/medical equipment reasons to be confirmed by Security Supervisor).
• There is a per-guest limit of one small bag on the grounds (see size above).
• For a nominal charge, you can check your bag and/or instrument case at one of the facilities just outside the Main Entry and the Champions’ Gate entrances.
• NO glass bottles, containers, or cans (ONLY reusable metal or plastic water bottles);
• NO Backpacks (Exception: single compartment drawstring bags)
• NO computers or laptops
• NO video cameras or recording devices (Exception: cell phones and SLR cameras, with lenses up to and not exceeding 300mm, with video or recording capabilities) and tripods or other professional camera equipment
• The following items are prohibited and MAY NOT be brought onto the premises: NO hard coolers and containers; sealed packages of any kind; aerosol cans or noise-making devices; alcohol or other beverages containing alcohol; illegal substances;
